Ma’s Sound of Summer

The Summer is a comin-in
And Ma’s palm begins to itch
The garden is the place to be
Half-tidy is the state of dress
The bees will buzz, the birds will sing
The sound of ball on bat or racquet
But tis the palm on bare behind which adds to the summer symphony
And white to pink the colour best
To paint bare cheeks yearning to be free
And so spank up and spank the bare
For summer is a coming-in
