…oooOOOooo…

” …the stained glass has merits as a useful backdrop – shades of The Studio perhaps.” said Mr Gibson in a recent e-mail to me, hence the title of this post.

Taking a stroll through Pimlico…

Asa’s Note…

My story set in the Victoria Womens Prison, (see Photo Stories) was set in Pimlico, in a prison I researched called Millbank. The Victorian Flogging Bench/Doctors bench is from there.

continued…. down to the Thames and then a short distance along the Embankment to the Tate Gallery, ah now to be known as Tate Britain to distinguish it from the awful monstrosity just across the river Tate Modern, argh – though worthy of a visit if not just to slip up to the floor above the cafe/restaurant at the top – magnificent views and free, yes free – free

So into the Tate Gallery itself which is always rewarding, not least the downstairs round tea room where nymphet art students are looking for adventure….however being a ‘member’ entitles one entry into the inner sanctums and to a pleasing, though cramped, non-public hanging area

Sir John Everett Millais is a favourite of mine and i always make a point of escorting my more mature and eager company to a corner nook not too well lit and this particular example titled ‘MARIANNA’ that invariable produces exhalations of flustered palpitations……………………

… needless to say the hanging committee, damn them, has deemed it necessary to substitute a variation for the public  – hence, Gallery 10a on the second floor:

…………………………………………………………………………………………………..    Postcards are available but only of this version, so dear friends get one, squint and use your imagination.

Thank you Mr Gibson, keep them coming!

More to come

Asa
