…A ‘Sound Punishment’ film, Case Files from a Reformatory’, starring Kami Robertson.  In this scene she is dressed in Victorian underwear and is required to lie down on her stomach flat on a large table, her bottom raised up with a pillow. The headmaster parts her drawers and then whips her with a martinet:

Another piece of everyday school furniture sometimes employed is of course the high wooden laboratory stool, which presents a bottom at the ideal height for strapping or caning:

She is dressed as a very fetching schoolgirl and has clearly just been given what looks like a very sound caning… 8 or 9 strokes?! The cane welts cover her bottom fairly evenly, right down to the crease between buttocks and thighs.

In school gymnasiums there would have been padded vaulting horses of various types, again more than ideal for a pupil to be bent across to receive the gym shoe, strap or cane.

Asa tells me that at his school, the Headmaster used these for caning on the stage when needed, can you see the sloping end? Well, the unfortunate boy or girl would lean at that end holding a handle at the top, a pommel horse. The two legs had straps and buckles for holding the legs!!

In these images from an ‘Institute of Discipline’ film, a well-endowed girl is bent across a low gym horse in a gymnasium. You can imagine the echo of the cane swishing and thwacking down across her sumptuous cheeks in such a large, cavernous space!
