An ‘A-frame’ used as a whipping support as seen in one of Nu-West ‘alfresco’ spanking films. Here the whip is destined solely for young lady’s bottom :

St. Andrew’s Crosses are frequently used in BDSM play and very few dominatrix dungeons are without one. A St. Andrew’s cross, also called X-Frame or Saltire, is a structure, often made of two wooden boards mounted to a wall, in the form of an X. At the furthest four points of the cross will be devices to bind a subject’s ankles and wrists. This restrains the subject in a spreadeagle position, very open, exposed and accessible. It is ideal for both bottom and back whipping.

Whipping frames based on the standing X construction were in use for judicial corporal punishment in 19th century British prisons, such as this one once used at Wormwood Scrubs:

There is also a horizontal variant of the St. Andrew’s Cross. It is less common than the vertical version, but is supposedly meant to be better for spanking than a vertical one.
